January 10, Challenge 10: Let Go! (Part 1) A part of this challenge to myself involves letting go of some things, with a variety of meanings to that phrase… and a cool Disney song to go along with it!
First, I am going through my house and packing up the things that I don’t need and/or haven’t used for a while. I have tried to “simplify” for years, so at first, I thought there wouldn’t be a lot in my house to pack up… but I was wrong. I have found that it is easier for me to let go of possessions if I know they are going to help someone, which is the case with all that I’m packing up now.
I want my life to be about relationships, people, values, preparation for eternity…not about things. So, letting go of some possessions is a must! Tomorrow, the de-cluttering will continue, but in a different way.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21
