January 5, Challenge 5 #JanuaryJourney #ready

Happy Friday!  Thank you to those who have read this blog as I begin this personal challenge to myself, and I especially appreciate the encouragement received from some readers!

January 5, Challenge 5:  Guard your Memories!   Have you ever had that sinking feeling of, “Oh, I should have taken care of that, and now it may be too late.”?  I had an SD card that contains hundreds of digital pictures and several videos of our twins, from their first months of life.  Because I didn’t want to lose it before I could copy the pictures, I kept carrying around the SD card in a bifold wallet containing my money and credit cards.

So you know what happened next… I lost my wallet at a grocery store, or thought I had lost it.  Thankfully, I was able to recover the wallet, but that feeling of regret before finding the wallet was the worst.  It was a proper reminder that if something is that valuable to me, I need to take the proper time to guard it.  That way, there are no regrets!

So, for 2018, I am trying to collect what is most important to me, when it comes to preserving memories, and make sure it is all properly stored, guarded, placed in a fireproof safe, etc.  You know… those material things you would grab if you only had a few minutes to escape your burning house, if your family was already safe.

It’s not pleasant to think about, but it’s worth taking the time to guard those memories.  For me, being #ready to live a quality year includes the peace of mind that whatever few possessions are most precious to me are safely guarded.
