New Year Challenge #JanuaryJourney #ready

Are you ready for a challenge?  Join me for the next 31 days, and we will prepare to die…. Wait! What!? That’s probably on the list of the top ten things NOT to headline a blog post with, but stay with me… what I mean is, let’s take care of some important business during this month, so that the rest of the year is the best it can be.  You see, the idea here is that if you are ready to die, then you are truly ready to live.

So, for the next 31 days, I will be taking care of some business, as if I did not have a guarantee that I will see another new year…because after all, I don’t have that guarantee, and I want to be #ready.

January 1, Challenge 1:  Number your days!  In case you stayed up late to ring in the new year, we’ll start with something quick and simple.  Here’s my example:  I am 38 years old.  If I am blessed with 30 more years, that means I have about 1560 Saturdays to spend with my family.  That sounds like a lot, but let me add more perspective.  I have about 832 Saturdays with my twins before they are 18 and possibly leaving home.   As for my teenage son, I only have about 182 Saturdays left with him before he graduates high school and possibly leaves home for college.

Doing this math helps me put things in perspective.  It helps me think about how I want to spend those Saturdays.  I certainly have some adjustments to make so that I can make the most of the time I have with my loved ones.

How about you?  Are you making the most of the time you have?  Join me on this January Journey, and let’s make it a great year!

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.  Psalm 90:12
